The Fishlake National Forest – Richfield Ranger District in partnership with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands is set to implement a prescribed fire between Deep Lake and Signal Peak on Monroe Mountain in Sevier County. Hand and aerial ignitions are expected to start on Oct. 20 and burning will last through Oct. 24 when a winter storm is expected to hit the area. It is estimated that 500 to 1,500 acres will be burned as part of the project and due to the location of the burn, smoke will be visible throughout Sevier County. The following roads and trails will be closed:
- NFS Road 080: boundary near Duck Lake to Forest Trail 984 near Deep Lake
- NFS Road 288: boundary near Annabella Reservoir to the junction of Forest Road 080
- NFS Trail 984: entire length
