Possible Power Shutoffs Due to Monroe Canyon Fire

Possible power shutoffs have been announced due to the Monroe Canyon fire. In an email to their customers Garkane Energy shared, “due to ongoing wildfire activity in the region, there is a high likelihood of power shutoffs impacting several areas within Garkane’s service territory…These precautionary outages could happen with little or no warning, depending on weather conditions, wind and fire behavior.” Areas that may be effected include Wayne County, Piute County and southern Sevier County. The message continued, “We are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with local emergency responders. Please be prepared with the items you need in case of an extended outage.” As of this morning the Monroe Canyon Fire is listed at 20,870 acres and is 13 percent contained. There are currently 975 personnel assigned to fight the fire.
