On Apr. 26, the Richfield City Police Department responded to a location in town where a large quantity of very old dynamite had been located in an old shed. The Utah County Bomb Squad was notified and responded to the scene, along with the Richfield City Fire Department and Sevier County EMS. It was determined that the explosives were too volatile to be moved and that they would have to be burned in place. They were soaked in diesel fuel by the bomb squad members and remotely lit on fire. The shed was a complete loss and the dynamite was safely and completely consumed by the fire. In a post to their Facebook page the RCPD shared, “we would like to thank the Utah County Bomb Squad for their expertise and assistance with the incident.”
