(Salt Lake City, UT) — A new state flag in Utah is getting closer to reality. The Senate voted in favor of a bill yesterday that would replace the current flag with one representing the state’s historic tribal nations. It comes with a five-point star and five mountain peaks to stand for the Goshute, Navajo, Paiute, Shoshone and Ute nations. The Salt Lake Tribune reports the bill’s sponsor moved away from an eight-point star on the first new flag because a constituent thought it looked like an asterisk. The House gets the bill next.
