After a week and a half, the water in Moroni City is once again safe for all residents to drink. On February 26, an advisory was issued that too many nitrates were found in the water, making it unsafe for infants under six months old. The City replaced a broken well pump on one of the wells on Friday, and after flushing the system, water tests on Monday showed nitrate levels had dropped to an acceptable level. Homeowners should flush their pipes and faucets by running all cold water faucets for at least five minutes. If the water is discolored, continue to run it until it runs clear. Other appliances, such as hot water heaters, water coolers, and in line filters, should have enough water run through them to replace at least the volume of all lines and tanks. Any questions should be directed to Moroni City or the Utah Division of Drinking Water.
