Manti City issues drinking water boil advisory

Manti City has issued a drinking water boil advisory for the next 24 hours.

City officials reported they found cloudy water in the drinking water system on Thursday, coming out of two springs east of Manti. The springs have been turned out of the water system and the storage tank has been flushed with well water.

Officials with the city submitted water samples to the state water lab for analysis and results are expected late Friday afternoon.

As a precaution Manti City residents are encouraged to boil all drinking water or use bottled water for making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. This is not a mandatory boil, rather an advisory as a precaution.

Residents should boil water for three minutes and let it cool. The boiling process kills bacteria and other organisms that could be in the drinking water.

Manti City officials will will advise residents when the lab results come back to determine if the boil order can be lifted or will be continued.
