(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is working to help people whose lives are upended after Hurricane Otis blasted the area around Acapulco, in southwest Mexico early Wednesday. The Category 5 storm is the most powerful to hit Mexico in 50 years. Church leaders in Mexico are evaluating relief efforts and determining how the church can best help. The church announced that all missionaries who are serving in Acapulco are accounted for and safe.
