Governor Holds Ceremonial Signing For Education Bills

(Murray, UT) — Governor Cox is calling attention to education bills passed by the Utah Legislature this year. The governor held a ceremonial bill signing at Hillcrest Junior High School in Murray yesterday. Among the bills highlighted at the signing was an anti-bullying measure known as “Izzy’s Bill.” The nickname refers to Izzy Tichenor, a ten-year-old girl who committed suicide last year after reportedly being bullied in school. The governor signed bills expanding kindergarten, providing free feminine hygiene products in schools and allowing Native American students to wear tribal regalia during graduation ceremonies.
