(Park City, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox is denouncing a Friday night attack on a congressman at the Sundance Film Festival. Democratic Representative Maxwell Frost says the suspect punched him in the face, yelled racist remarks and said President Donald Trump was going to deport him. Frost, who’s Black, is a native-born American citizen. The Florida congressman says Christian Joel Young was later arrested. The attack happened at the High West Distillery which is a popular spot for Sundance Film Festival participants. The 28-year-old suspect allegedly crashed the private party. He’s now held without bail. Governor Cox said, “political or racially charged violence of any kind is unacceptable in Utah.” Congressman Frost has risen to fame as the first Gen Z member of Congress.
