(Birdseye, UT) — Two Utah County firefighters had to be hospitalized after they became overheated while working to put out a brush fire that was started by a lightning strike. It happened near Birdseye on Monday, which was the hottest day of the year so far in Utah. One of the firefighters was flown to Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital in Provo and was reported to be in serious condition. The other was airlifted to Intermountain Spanish Fork Hospital. There’s no word on that firefighter’s condition. Birdseye is about 30 miles southeast of Provo, on U.S. Highway 89.
