A fatal crash occurred on the morning of Apr. 6 on US 89 near mile post 297 near the Sanpete county border.
In a press release from the Utah Highway patrol it was said “a Silver Ford passenger car was travelling northbound on US-89 at milepost 297. This area of highway consists of a single northbound and single southbound lane, with guardrail on both sides. A semi hauling a single empty flatbed trailer was travelling southbound at this same location. Evidence on scene indicates the passenger car crossed the center line, striking the semi head on.
The solo-occupant/driver of the passenger car was killed on impact. The driver of the semi suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation.”
US 89 was closed in both directions with detours, and is expected to reopen on Apr. 6 just before 3:00 p.m
