Colorado River Stakeholders Meet to Address Water Rights

(Washington, DC) — Governors from the upper basin states of the Colorado River met in Washington, D.C., to try to resolve a years-long stalemate over water rights. Colorado Governor Jared Polis called the meeting “productive,” while Utah Governor Spencer Cox said all participants are committed to avoiding litigation. A deadline for an agreement passed last year, and federal agencies could take control if the states fail to reach a deal.
