The Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) was notified on Friday, August 14, 2020 of the death of a Sanpete County resident due to COVID-19. The individual who passed away was a male, over the age of 85, and was a contact of a confirmed case.
“We are saddened to hear of another death from COVID-19 in our local community,” said Nate Selin, CUPHD’s Health Officer. “Our hearts go out to the family who had lost their loved one to this disease.” CUPHD reminds the public that while COVID-19 is still actively spreading, precautions should be taken to protect all residents, particularly those at highest risk of severe cases of COVID-19. “Although we haven’t seen as many cases as other areas in the state or country, we continue to see case counts and hospitalizations rise. We encourage individuals to continue to wear masks when in public, wash their hands regularly, watch their distances to maintain social distancing, and take other precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19.” Selin said.
