Fire officials are blaming a problem with a fireplace after an accidental fire destroyed a cabin in Sevier County on Wednesday.

A small fire in the fireplace quickly spread at the Accord Lake cabin.

The owner’s son reported the fire to officials after trying to extinguish it himself with a hose.

The roof collapsed and destroyed the interior and front exterior after firefighters arrived. They were able to extinguish the fire, but the building was already destroyed.

It’s estimated the cost of the cabin was $40,000.
