Bill Would Give Utahns New Tools To Stop Telemarketing Calls

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill making its way through the Legislature could help limit telemarketing calls to Utah residents. HB217 from Republican Representative Norm Thurston expands the definition of solicitation calls to include ones that involve callers offering to buy real estate from the respondent. Utah companies who outsource telemarketing to other countries could face penalties. Finally, the bill would also prohibit telemarketers from blocking or disguising their caller IDs.
