(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill that would provide free feminine hygiene products in Utah schools is close to passing in the state legislature. The Utah Senate unanimously voted in favor of House Bill 162 yesterday. The bill would create a public-private partnership to make sure feminine products were available in girls and unisex restrooms in state schools. The bill still faces a final vote in the Senate and will be put on hold until lawmakers are sure there is enough money in the state budget to fund the program.
