Audit: Utah Schools Dealing With High Turnover Rate For New Teachers

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A legislative audit shows Utah schools are having trouble retaining their newest teachers. According to the report from the Office of the Legislative Auditor General, the average turnover rate for teachers of the 2016 cohort is 42-percent. The report shows that shortages have become more localized and occur most often in rural areas. The audit calls for more analysis on teacher wages, relative to concerns teachers voice over stress and workload.
