Another earthquake is not imminent

Some media outlets are erroneously reporting that a bigger earthquake is imminent. This is not true. According to University of Utah seismologists, there is only a 5% chance of a larger earthquake at this time.  Currently, power is being restored to areas that were affected by this morning’s 5.7 magnitude earthquake, centered northwest of Magna, Utah.  Reports of damage continue to come in, and some minor injuries have been reported.  The Salt Lake International Airport has been closed, and some damage was reported to the Salt Lake Temple.  Aftershocks could be felt for up to a week.  So far they have been in the 3.7 and under range.
