According to reports, Sevier County EMS was called to the Monroe East LDS chapel for two separate patients on Dec. 31. The first a 4-year-old girl who was having breathing problems, the second for a man who was feeling sick. After a family reported they all had headaches later that day, the Monroe City Fire Department went to the building, where they detected high levels of carbon monoxide. Multiple people went to Sevier Valley Hospital to seek treatment and 22 of them needed to be transferred to outside hospitals. Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis thanked various agencies and the EMTs who helped.
