PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, BYU football junior receiver Dax Milne was named as one of 10 semifinalists nationally for the 2020 Burlsworth Trophy.
This honor is annually bestowed upon the most outstanding player in college football who began his career as a walk-on.
The 6-1 190-pound Milne leads the Cougars in receptions (63), receiving yards (1,118) and scoring receptions (8).
Milne’s 1,118 yards rank him fourth nationally.
Milne is also a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award.
Additionally, BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes was one of 15 coordinators nationwide to be recognized as semifinalists for the 2020 Broyles Award.
This honors college football’s top assistant coach.
Grimes beat out 1,255 assistants nationwide to make it to this point.
Grimes, a 28-year coaching veteran, has helped the Cougars become a Top 10 offense nationally and post a 10-1 record.
The Cougars rank 10th nationally with 510.1 yards per game and eighth in the country in scoring offense (43 points per game).
BYU’s offense ranks in the Top 15 nationally in 10 different NCAA statistical categories.
