Sam Merrill had to wait a while, but eventually he heard his name called at the 2020 NBA Draft, going 60th to the New Orleans Pelicans.
Merrill was taken with the final pick of this year’s draft and it was announced that he would be dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks. Merrill was regarded as one of the best shooters in this year’s draft. He averaged 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists as a senior. Merrill finished his career at Utah State as the Aggies second leading scorer and No. 2 on the all time assists leaderboard.
Former BYU star Yoeli Childs did not hear his name called on draft night. Childs reportedly interviewed with 29 of the 30 NBA teams and is considered a highly sought after undrafted free agent.
Multiple reports state that Childs is in discussions with a handful of teams and has yet to determine a landing spot.
Childs averaged 22.2 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists in his final season in Provo.
