Utah State Men’s Basketball’s Neemias Queta Named To All-Mountain West Preseason Team

LOGAN, Utah-Wednesday, Utah State men’s basketball standout, junior center Neemias Queta, was named to the All-Mountain West Conference team.

Queta has been named to the preseason all-Mountain West squad in each of the last two seasons following a stellar freshman campaign during the 2018-19 season, earning him conference Freshman of the Year honors.

Queta, a native of Barreiro, Portugal, has netted 122 blocked shots during his career at Utah State, including a school-record 84 swats during his freshman season.

Queta needs only 33 blocks to set the new school record. Utah State’s current blocked shots record is owned by Gilbert Pete, who netted 155 blocked shots from 1986-1989.

Queta was also named as the Mountain West Conference’s freshman of the year and has received all-conference defensive honors in back-to-back seasons.

Queta has averaged 12.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for the Aggies in his first two seasons.

Queta was joined on the All-Mountain West squad by Boise State senior guard Derrick Alston Jr., Colorado State sophomore guard Isaiah Stevens, San Diego State senior forward Matt Mitchell and UNLV junior guard Bryce Mitchell.

San Diego State was picked to finish first in the Mountain West Conference, netting 211 points. Utah State was picked to finish third, posting 177 points.
