On Sep. 17 there was a deadly crash on Interstate 70 in Salina Canyon. Authorities received a call about a small white vehicle driving the wrong way down the freeway and a few minutes later Richfield Communication Center received a call of a head on accident involving the wrong way vehicle near MP 89 on I-70.

The small white vehicle struck a Ford Expedition head on. After the collision, the Ford Expedition was struck from behind by a semi truck, then rolled down the road and into the median, then caught on fire.

The driver of the small white car was fully ejected and died at the scene. The driver of the Ford Expedition was killed on impact and their passenger was transported to Castleview hospital with minor injuries.

The deceased in the Ford Expedition is from Romania and officials are working with the consular to find next of kin. Next of kin on the wrong way driver is still being contacted.
