Moab teen gets year in jail in fatal prom night crash

MONTICELLO, Utah (AP) — An 18-year-old Moab man has been sentenced to a year in jail for his role in a fatal prom-night crash that killed two teens and injured two others.

Gage Moore was driving a car that crashed shortly after the Grant County High School prom on March 5. He pleaded guilty in a plea bargain arrangement to two counts of automobile homicide and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Two passengers were killed — 14-year-old Taylor Bryant and 16-year-old Connor Denney.

Moore apologized during Monday’s sentencing. He said he lives with the pain every day.

Tensions boiled over after the judge announced the plea deal and sheriff’s deputies had to break up a fight between family members in the parking lot.

Honey Dawson, the mother of one of the injured teens, said the “kid got away with murder.”
