UVU Men’s Basketball Signs BYU Transfer Blaze Nield

OREM, Utah-Thursday, Utah Valley men’s basketball head coach Mark Madsen confirmed the signing of BYU transfer Blaze Nield.

Madsen called the 6-1 185-pound Nield a “point guard leader” and expressed his appreciation for his defensive energy and passing skills.

Nield, who will be a junior, started his collegiate career at USU-Eastern Utah in Price. During his freshman season for the Eagles, he netted 20.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

After transferring to BYU, Neild appeared in 17 games as a sophomore. He averaged 0.7 points per game and shot 57.1 percent from the field (4-7).

Nield is a former Lehi High School star and averaged 17.3 points and 3.1 assists per game during his senior season for the Pioneers.
