PROVO, Utah-Because doTERRA Field at UCCU Ballpark in Orem is in its final stages of completion, Utah Valley baseball (5-12) is hosting Air Force (5-12) at Miller Park on the BYU campus in Provo Tuesday and Wednesday.
Because of this change in venue, both the Tuesday evening game (6:00 pm) and the Wednesday matinee (11:00 am) will be free of charge.
Under head coach Eric Madsen (302-330, .478), in his 12th season at the helm, the Wolverines are seeking to turn their season around against the visiting Falcons.
Among Wolverines with at least 20 at-bats, junior infielder Mitch Moralez leads the squad in batting average (.357), hits (25) and RBI (7).
Senior outfielder Jake Berry remains the only Wolverine with a home run on the season, with one.
Senior right-handed pitcher Jesse Schmit is the ace of the staff for the Wolverines. He is presently 2-0 on the season and leads the squad with 27 strikeouts.
Air Force is led by 10th-year head coach Mike Kazlausky (184-262, .413) who most recently led the Falcons to a series win against South Dakota State March 6-8. Air Force took two of three games from the Jackrabbits of the Summit League in that series.
The Falcons are led in batting average by junior infielder/outfielder Cole Blatchford (.339).
Blatchford also leads Air Force in runs scored (12), hits (20) and home runs (3).
Blatchford’s 11 RBI tie him for the team lead with senior infielder/outfielder Tommy Gillman.
Senior right-handed pitcher Josh Leaser is the only Falcons hurler with a winning record as he is 2-0 on the mound this season.
Leaser’s 1.42 ERA in 12.2 innings of work also leads Air Force.
The Falcons lead the Wolverines 10-8 all-time and 6-4 on the road against UVU.
