ST. GEORGE, Utah-Jake Engel homered twice and the Dixie State Trailblazers outlasted Azusa Pacific 8-7 Thursday at Bruce Hurst Field in non-conference college basetball action.

The 8-0 Trailblazers built an 8-4 lead in the 8th Inning on Engel’s second home run of the game, only to withstand a late Cougars surge to remain undefeated on the season.

Justin Dunham earned the win on the mound for Dixie State, improving to 2-0 on the season.

In six innings of work, Dunham posted three strikeouts while surrendering four hits.

Osvaldo Tovalin had two hits and three RBI in the loss for Azusa Pacific, dropping the Cougars to 3-6 on the season.

The two squads meet again Friday at Bruce Hurst Field for a 3:00 pm opening pitch.
