Dixie State Baseball’s Tyson Fisher and Tevita Gerber Named As RMAC Players of the Week

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Tuesday, 3-0 Dixie State baseball received two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player of the week honors by virtue of the Trailblazers sweeping Cal State-San Marcos at San Marcos, Calif. this past weekend.

Sophomore third baseman Tyson Fisher was named the RMAC offensive player of the week and senior left-handed pitcher Tevita Gerber was named the conference’s pitcher of the week.

Fisher, a St. George native and Dixie High School product, batted .636 (7-11) against the Cougars, posting four extra-base hits, five RBI and three runs scored.

Fisher is the RMAC’s reigning freshman of the year.

Gerber, a native of Salt Lake City and a Cottonwood High School product, was on the mound Sunday. During his performance, he posted six strikeouts and retired the final nine Cougars batters he faced successively.

The Trailblazers will be at Cal State-Los Angeles this next weekend, facing Northwest Nazarene Friday and Saturday and the host Golden Eagles Saturday and Sunday.
