SALT LAKE CITY – After having four signees drafted that will be on the team for the 2020 season, Utah baseball’s latest recruiting class was ranked 18th in the country by Collegiate Baseball.

That is the third best class in the Pac-12.

Only athletes who came to school this fall are factored in as points are awarded to drafted players and the round they were chosen, All-Americans, All-State selections and All-Conference picks.

Collegiate Baseball also gives points for Conference Players of the Year, State Players of the Year and National Players of the Year.

Randon Hostert, Trey Clarkson, Kayler Yates and Brock Rudy all heard their names called back in June from rounds 15-39 marking the most signees drafted for Utah in program history. Utah also signed Sean Bolin, who played for one of the top high schools in the country at Argyle HS.

In all, Utah is bringing in 13 newcomers to the roster this year with nine freshmen and four junior college transfers.

The rest of the newcomers include Vinny Zavolta, Casey Anderson, Josh Giffins, Jake Connelly, Austin Youngblood, Andrew Meyer and Chris Messer.

Everyone is back on campus and Utah has begun its preparations for the 2020 season as team practice started on Friday, September 20.
