Dixie Fly High Volleyball Tournament Roundup

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Several teams from central and south-central Utah competed in the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament in St. George over the weekend with the Richfield Wildcats being crowned champions.

Richfield:

The Richfield Wildcats went 3-1 on the first day of the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament Friday. Richfield lost to Cedar City 2-1, then beat Juab 2-0, Snow Canyon 2-1, and Grantsville 2-0.

The Wildcats won the tournament by going 5-0 on Saturday with 2-0 wins over Moapa Valley, Nev., Carbon, Stansbury and Union. Richfield also avenged their only loss on Friday by beating Cedar City Saturday 2-1.

Juab:

The Juab Wasps went 1-2 on the first day of the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament Friday. The Wasps lost to Richfield 2-0, then topped Pine View 2-1, before falling to Cedar City 2-0.

Juab went 1-1 on Saturday at the tournament with a 2-0 win over Providence Hall, before losing 2-0 to Hurricane.

Manti:

The Manti Templars went 0-3 on the first day of the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament Friday. The Templars lost to Canyon View 2-1, then were swept 2-0 by both Dixie and Stansbury.

Manti finished the tournament on Saturday by also going 0-3. The Templars were swept, 2-0, by Pine View, Crimson Cliffs and South Sevier.

Kanab:

The Kanab Lady Cowboys went 3-0 in dominant fashion on the first day of the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament Friday. Kanab swept all three opponents 2-0 with win over Beaver Dam, Ariz., Bryce Valley and St. Joseph.

The Lady Cowboys then finished the tournament with a 2-1 record on Saturday. Kanab beat Piute 2-1 and topped Beaver Dam, Ariz. for the second time in as many days, 2-0. The Lady Cowboys finished the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Waterford.

South Sevier:

The South Sevier Rams went 1-3 on the first day of the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament Friday. The Rams lost to Maple Mountain 2-1, then beat Canyon View 2-1, before being swept 2-0 by both Hurricane and Stansbury.

South Sevier went 2-1 on Saturday of the tournament with 2-0 wins over Manti and Pine View, before falling to Moapa Valley, Nev. 2-1.

Piute:

The Piute Thunderbirds went 2-1 on the first day of the Dixie Fly High volleyball tournament Friday. Piute swept Tabiona and Dixie’s JV team, 2-0. They were also swept by Waterford, 2-0.

Piute finished the tournament by going 2-2 on Saturday with losses to Kanab, 2-1, and Tabiona, 2-0. The Thunderbirds then swept St. Joseph and Beaver Dam, Ariz. each 2-0.
