The man accused of Wesley Nay’s death has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of 1st degree murder. Nay’s body was found by hunters in a shallow grave in Utah County in 2016. Raul Vidrio, 21, of Mt. Pleasant, was arrested after Utah County Sheriff’s deputies stopped him on a stolen vehicle charge. At that time, they found shovels, a pick and gas jugs in the bed of a stolen pick-up truck. They also found a large knife that tested positive for Nay’s DNA.
Vidrio pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder in January; however, prosecutors reduced the charge to murder, taking the death penalty off the table, and Vidrio agreed to plead guilty. That charge could earn him life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 23.
