Utah State Men’s Basketball Visits Fresno State Tuesday

FRESNO, Calif.-Tuesday, Utah State men’s basketball visits Fresno State as the Aggies ensue in what is proving to be a highly successful season.

The 17-5 (7-2 in Mountain West Conference play) Aggies are contending for sole possession of second place in the Mountain West against the 16-5 (7-2) Bulldogs.

The Aggies and Bulldogs have a penchant for close calls of late as the last three games between the schools have been decided in the closing seconds of regulation.

The Aggies have won two of those games, which have been decided by a net six points.

Overall this season, however, the Aggies have statistically dominated their opponents.

The Aggies outscore opponents on average 79.8 points-65.9 points this season.

Junior guard Sam Merrill (19.4 points, 3.7 rebounds per game) leads the Aggies.

Freshman center, Portuguese national Neemias Queta, (10.8 points, 8.9 rebounds per game) continues to excel of late. Over the course of the last five games, he averages 12.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per contest.

Queta’s contributions have helped the Aggies lead the Mountain West in rebounding margin (+7.7) in conference games.

Utah State also leads the Mountain West Conference in field goal percentage both offensively (47.8 percent) and defensively (38.2 percent).

The Bulldogs score 76.4 points per game and surrender 66.2 points per contest.

Redshirt senior guard Braxton Huggins (17.8 points, 4.4 rebounds per game) and senior guard Deshon Taylor (16.2 points, 3.4 rebounds per game) lead the Bulldogs on the season.

The Aggies lead the all-time series 35-25 over the Bulldogs.
