Tanner Mangum Named As Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Nominee

ROCHESTER, Minn.-Tuesday, per an announcement from byucougars.com, The College Sports Information Directors of America in association with The Associated Press and the Fiesta Bowl organization have selected BYU signal-caller Tanner Mangum as one of this week’s three college football nominees for the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year award.

Others include Kent State receiver Antwan Dixon and Houston receiver Marquez Stevenson.

Mangum has been nominated because of his ability to cope with emotional issues, such as mental health, depression and anxiety.

All nominees for this award are now eligible for the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year award, presented at season’s end.

The premier sponsor, Mayo Clinic, will donate $5,000 to the general scholarship funds for the three winners and $2,500 in the names of six other finalists to be nominated this season.

Additionally, the three honorees will be recognized during  special ceremony at the 2019 Fiesta Bowl at Glendale, Ariz.

Honorees and winners are selected by a panel of writers, editors and sports information directors from CoSIDA, AP, Touchdown Illustrated and Fiesta Bowl representatives.
