Women’s Golf
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-Monday, Brigham Young University women’s golf competed during the first day of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
After Day 1, the Cougars sit in 15th place with a net score of 610. Currently in first place are the Charlotte 49ers with a score of 585. The 49ers’ top performer thus far is Siarra Stout, who is tied for second overall with a total score of 142.
Leading BYU thus far are Rose Huang and Naomi Soifua who are tied for 21st overall with a score of 149 for each of them.
The tournament will resume Tuesday.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Monday, Dixie State and Westminster’s women’s golf teams competed in Day 1 of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference fall preview, hosted by Colorado Mesa University.
The current team leader is the Colorado State Pueblo-Thunderwolves who are tied with the University of Tampa at +20. Westminster checks in tied for third at +22 with Texas A&M-Commerce. Dixie State University and the University of Regis are tied for fifth place at +25 headed into Day 2 of competition Tuesday.
The current individual leader is the University of Tampa’s Kiiri Rihiijarvi, who checks in at -8.
Westminster’s Cassie Campos is tied for third at +3 with Shelby Turner of Western New Mexico.
The current Dixie State leader is Kaitlynn Deeble who is tied for fifth at +3 with Karen Valcarce of Westminster, among others.
Men’s Golf
DRIGGS, Idaho-Monday, as the Utah Utes’ men’s golf squad hosted the Showdown in the Rockies at the Huntsman Springs Golf Course of Driggs, Idaho, they are in first place at -11, netting a collective score of 557. Utah State’s men check in at 9th and Utah Valley is 10th overall, out of 10 squads competing at this tournament.
The Oregon State men are within striking distance of the Utes at 566 and -6.
The Beavers’ Spencer Tibbits is in first place individually at 131 (-9) with Utah’s Kyler Dunkle checking in at -8.
The Aggies’ best competitor thus far is Colten Cordingley who is tied for 17th overall at +2. For Utah Valley, the highest placed competitor through Day 1 is Gabe Lysen who is tied for 26th overall to pace the Wolverines.
