OREM, Utah-Freshman Kazna Tarawhiti amassed a team-best 19 kills and the Utah Valley Wolverines overpowered Idaho State 3-1 in non-conference NCAA women’s volleyball action Tuesday at Lockhart Arena.
Sophomore standout Kristen Allred added 16 more kills as the Wolverines prevailed 25-23, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-23 in the clincher to oust their Big Sky Conference guests.
Tarawhiti came up with a .256 hitting percentage and three blocks to help the Wolverines get the victory with her diverse talents.
Overall, the Wolverines out-hit the Bengals .236-.219. Abby Garrity’s 17 kills paced Idaho State in the loss, dropping them to 2-3 on the young season.
Utah Valley is next in action this upcoming weekend at Eugene, Ore. at the Oregon Classic. While there, the Wolverines will face host Oregon, Arkansas-Pine Bluff of the Southwest Athletic Conference and Long Beach State of the Big West.
