Jeffrey R. Holland, the president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has passed away at age 85. According to a press release from the church, he died Dec. 27, at approximately 3:15 a.m. from complications associated with kidney disease, while surrounded by his family. President Holland has served as an Apostle since 1994, he also has served as a General Authority Seventy, president of Brigham Young University, Commissioner of the Church Education System and dean of BYU’s College of Religion Education. Funeral services will be held in the Tabernacle on Temple Square on Dec. 31 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
