(Lompoc, CA) — A missing nine-year-old girl from California was allegedly shot and killed by her mother in Utah. Yesterday, the sheriff of Santa Barbara County said the body of Melodee Buzzard was found in Wayne County earlier this month. That was nearly two months after she was last spotted in Green River. Officials say a DNA test came back this week and confirmed the identity of the body. Crime scene evidence from the murder scene in Caineville shows she was shot in the head. Her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, was arrested at her home in Santa Barbara County yesterday. Melodee Buzzard was reported missing in October, after traveling with Ashlee Buzzard through several states. The 40-year-old has never offered an explanation for her daughter’s disappearance and has not cooperated with California police.
