Utah Men’s Basketball Adds Three Thursday

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, Utah men’s basketball added three new players to the roster ahead of the upcoming season.

They are as follows:

Freshman guard Obomote Abbey out of Jyväskylä, Finland and the Jyväskylä Basketball Academy. While competing for Finland at the 2025 U20 EuroBasket Tournament, Abbey averaged 15.3 points per game in six games.

Junior forward Josh Hayes of Gainesville, Fla. Last season at Northwest Florida State, Hayes 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while shooting just under 58 percent from the field.

Sophomore guard Alvin Jackson III of Washington D.C. Last season at nearby Salt Lake Community College, Jackson III averaged 6.4 points per game for the Bruins. While starring at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School of Bethesda, Md., Jackson III led the Battlin’ Barons to the MPSSAA Class 4A tournament his senior season. The Runnin’ Utes start the season November 3 by hosting San José State.
