Utah Representatives Call For More Money To Private School Vouchers In 2025 Before The Program Begins

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A couple of Utah Lawmakers are asking to increase Utah’s first private school voucher program by over 100-million dollars for the 20-25 school year. The “Utah Fits All Scholarship” voucher program is currently in its first year and registration begins at the end of the month. Republican representative Candice Pierucci and senator Kirk Cullimore requested for the program to jump from 42-million dollars in funding to 150-million at a Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee meeting. When the initial plan was introduced in last year’s legislative session, the program faced opposition from teachers and nearly every education organization in Utah. The program did see support from conservatives who believe it gives parents more choice in where to send there kids to school.
