(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Attorney General’s Office is suing some of the nation’s insulin manufacturers over an alleged pricing scheme. The AG’s Office and State Commerce Department’s Division of Consumer Protection accuse the drug makers and pharmacy benefit managers of conspiring to inflate the price of insulin up to one-thousand percent over the past decade. Utah argues the price has skyrocketed while the cost to manufacture insulin has fallen over the same time frame. The AG’s Office says the price-fixing has put access to insulin nearly out of reach for the 200-thousand Utahns who suffer from diabetes.
