3A Playoffs First Round
NEPHI, Utah-Austin Park ran for a pair of scores and threw a touchdown pass as the No. 7 Juab Wasps pummeled No. 10 North Sanpete 41-13 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Friday. Brock Richards and Ryan Robison added touchdown runs in victory for the Wasps and Porter Anderson returned an interception 85 yards for another score for Juab. Isaiah Wright threw a touchdown pass to Ty Pringle and Rafael Contreras made a pair of field goals in defeat for the Hawks. Juab next visits No. 2 Manti Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
GRANTSVILLE, Utah-Jayden Atkinson had a pair of touchdown runs and the No. 5 Grantsville Cowboys blanked No. 12 Carbon 39-0 Friday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. Grantsville next visits No. 4 Canyon View Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
OGDEN, Utah-Max Trujillo had three touchdown runs and the No. 8 Ogden Tigers doubled up No. 9 Juan Diego 2-14 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Friday. Antonio Archuleta had a 3-yard touchdown run in the loss for the Soaring Eagle. Ogden next visits No.1 Richfield in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 6:00 pm.
OGDEN, Utah-Bo Earl and Rylind Wood ran for scores and the No. 11 Union Cougars upset No. 6 Ben Lomond 13-10 Friday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. Manase Tuatagaloa threw a touchdown pass in defeat for the Scots. The Cougars next visit No. 3 Morgan Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
2A Playoffs First Round
DELTA, Utah-Kadance Lovell had a pair of touchdown runs and the No. 7 Delta Rabbits hammered No. 10 South Sevier 42-0 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Hunt Robinson added a touchdown pass to Ty Stefanoff and Stefanoff ran for another score in the win for Delta. Alex Walker had a 15-yard fumble recovery for a score and Blade Brandow added a 20-yard touchdown run in the win for the Rabbits. Delta next visits No. 2 South Summit Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
SALT LAKE CITY-Thomas Gutierrez threw two touchdown passes and the No. 8 Judge Memorial Bulldogs waxed No. 9 Grand 27-19 Friday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. JT Dowd had two touchdown runs in the loss for the Red Devils. Judge next visits No. 1 San Juan Friday in the second round of the state playoffs at 6:00 pm.
HERRIMAN, Utah-Tui Fonua threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score as the No. 6 Providence Hall Patriots bested No. 11 American Leadership 38-28 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Kannon Huntsman ran for two scores and added a touchdown pass in the loss for the Eagles. The Patriots next visit No. 3 Layton Christian Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
1A Playoffs First Round
GUNNISON, Utah-Tyson Tucker threw two touchdown passes and the No. 8 Gunnison Valley Bulldogs clobbered Parowan 46-0 Friday in the first round of the 1A state playoffs. Tucker, Pearson Judy and Andres Valencia added touchdown runs with Valencia catching both of Tucker’s touchdown passes and adding a 24-yard field goal in victory for the Bulldogs. Gunnison Valley next visits No. 1 Beaver Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
MILFORD, Utah-Kielen Tsosie threw three touchdown passes and the No. 7 Milford Tigers decimated No. 10 North Sevier 60-16 in the first round of the 1A state playoffs Friday. Cody Sorenson and Quincy Lofgran each had touchdown runs in the loss for the Wolves. Milford next visits No. 2 Duchesne Friday at 6:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
