Around 2:00 a.m. on Aug. 9, Kane County authorities received a call from a property owner who noticed unusual activity at their neighbor’s cabin. They crossed the street to investigate and found a man there. According to a report posted to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, “when confronted, the perpetrator fled in a jeep towing a trailer with an ATV.” At some point the trailer with the ATV disconnected from the jeep and ended up in a ditch. Responding officers retrieved the trailer and ATV and while traveling towards Kanab, encountered the Jeep traveling south on Highway 89.
A pursuit began and continued through Kanab with the Jeep running stop lights and reaching speeds of 90 mph. The jeep eventually turned down a side road where authorities found it abandoned on the edge of Kanab creek. Around 9:30 a.m. Kane County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call form a resident on South Stewart Drive stating that their car had been stolen. The individual had been alerted by his credit card company that his card had been used at Walmart in Page, Arizona. The Page Police department was notified and they quickly located the car and stopped it. Kyle Lang Turner, age 34 from Joseph, was taken into custody without incident. Turner was booked into jail in Page Arizona, and the case is still under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
