A woman is in jail in Sanpete County after dragging two police officers with her vehicle. On July 29, Officers in Gunnison responded to a call about two women in a Dodge Dart parked outside a car dealership with trash around the vehicle. Officers found the two asleep in the vehicle with towels over their faces. According to police when they pounded on the car window to get their attention the driver sat up, turned towards the deputy and then pretended to go back to sleep. Noticing the back doors were unlocked, two officers went into the car and pulled the towels off of the women’s’ faces. The driver, Clare Tridico age 33, “stomped on the gas,” dragging the officers with the car. The officers were able to free themselves and avoided being run over by the back tires of the car.
After a short pursuit, Tridico was boxed in and she and her passenger were taken into custody. According to reports Tridico told officers “she was running from gang members who wanted to sell her into the sex trade.” Both were taken to the hospital for mental and physical evaluation. The passenger was released while Tridico was arrested.
