RICHFIELD, Utah-Tuesday, the 1A football media day started off three successive days of Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network coverage of these events at the Ramada Inn Convention Center of Richfield.
The proceedings were as follows:
Gunnison Valley

The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs concluded Tuesday’s proceedings with their media availability. The Bulldogs were represented by head coach Patrick King, quarterback/outside linebacker Tyson Tucker, middle linebacker/offensive lineman Sloane Childs, wingback Andres Valencia and lineman Andy Keith.
The Bulldogs said they look forward to playing a 1A schedule last season after winning the 8-player state championship last season.
Beaver

The Beaver Beavers were represented by head coach Jon Marshall, tight end/linebacker Kutlur Matheson, fullback/linebacker Tate Gale, slotback/defensive back Tavyn Hollingshead and linebacker Baylor Blackburn. Marshall spoke of the daunting non-region schedule the Beavers have this season as they draw traditional powers South Summit and Grantsville as well as the defending 1A state champion, Layton Christian.
Parowan

The Parowan Rams were represented by head coach Ryan Heath, lineman Rustyn Mackelprang, quarterback Hunter Bettridge and lineman Kasen Walker. Heath looked forward to playing a relatively new schedule as the Rams have several 1A newcomers to play, such as Beaver. Heath lauded Bettridge’s leadership abilities and stated he is stressing the importance of fundamentals to his Rams squad after a 1-9 campaign in 2022.
Enterprise

The Enterprise Wolves were represented by head coach Andy Messersmith, interior lineman Cael Day, slotback Kyron Bracken, interior lineman Parker Holt, tailback Jaden Drake and lineman Easton Watkins. Messersmith confirmed the Wolves’ starting quarterback to start the season will be Ryker Phillips. Bracken spoke of the continuity that exists between he and his teammates as they have been together since the 5th grade.
Kanab

The Kanab Cowboys were represented by head coach JR Quarnberg, quarterback Griffen Bone, tight end/slotback Maddix Baird, center/defensive tackle Karter Ramsay and tackle/defensive tackle Britton Little. Bone had his appendix removed in the offseason and stated he is attempting to gain more weight ahead of the new season. Quarnberg said he is looking to key lineman Wyatt Orton to anchor things in the trenches for the Cowboys.
Milford

The Milford Tigers were represented by head coach Thane Marshall, tailback Drayton Blackburn, tackle/defensive end Tesler Fields, linemen Justen Beebe and tailback/outside linebacker Morgan Finicum.
Marshall and his team stressed the importance of stopping the Wing T. Marshall stated the Tigers have the best receivers they have ever had in program history and lauded his team for their togetherness in the first days of fall practice.
Millard

The Millard Eagles were next to address the media. Millard is not able to host Juab for its home game August 11, as the track surface is not being done. Therefore, the Eagles have impromptu adversity to start the season against the Wasps as they are now required to travel to Nephi.
North Sevier

The North Sevier Wolves started off the proceedings. The Wolves were represented by head coach Wyatt Mason, tight end Jace Noyes, lineman Dax Bastian, tailback Cody Sorenson and receiver Kayden Johnson.
When asked about the loss of star athlete Kannin Boswell, Mason stated he feels the Wolves have more “diversity” this season. Mason said the quarterback battle for the Wolves is presently up for grabs.
Noyes said he was excited with Mason’s commitment to the passing game, as he is a tight end.
