Multiple Candidates Considering Run Following Stewart’s Resignation

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A number of candidates are reportedly considering a run to replace Congressman Chris Stewart after he officially announced his resignation yesterday. The chair of the Utah Republican Party says he knows of at least 13 people who are thinking about running. Former GOP Senate candidate Becky Edwards confirmed yesterday that she plans to enter the race. A spokesperson for the state Democratic Party says at least four candidates are considering runs. Governor Cox is expected to call for a special election to fill Stewart’s seat by early next week.
