(St. George, UT) — The first temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Utah is preparing to welcome visitors again. Officials announced yesterday the St. George Utah Temple will be rededicated in December, with open houses being held in September and November. The facility was first dedicated way back in 1877 and went through a major renovation decades later before being rededicated in 1975. Now, after being closed since 2019 for more upgrades, it will start welcoming visitors once again ahead of the holiday season. It is the first of more than two dozen LDS temples in the Beehive State.
