State, Southern Utah See Strong Job Growth To Start 2023

(St. George, UT) — The start of 2023 is seeing strong job growth in Southern Utah and throughout the state. The Department of Workforce Services reported on Wednesday that Utah added 46-thousand-400 jobs in the 12-months that ended in January. That’s a two-point-eight percent gain, year-over-year and the St. George metro area matched that growth, boosting the area’s workforce to more than 80-thousand. Utah’s statewide job count is more than one-point-six million and the state’s unemployment rate of two-point-four percent is well below the national unemployment rate of three-point-four percent, which is the lowest in more than a half-century.
