Poll Shows Utahns Less Concerned About Drought

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Winter storms are giving Utahns a reason to be less concerned about drought. A Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll published last week shows 52-percent of Utahns are currently less concerned about drought than they were last year because of the moisture that the state has received this winter. Thirty-four percent of the 800 voters polled say they have the same level of concern about drought, while 14-percent say they are more concerned than they were last year. Researchers who monitor water levels in the state say it will take several more years of above-average snowfall to pull the state out of ongoing drought conditions.
