(Washington, DC) — The top Republican in the U.S. Senate says Utah Senator Mitt Romney should run for re-election in 2024. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell tells Politico that it’s “important for the Republican Party and the country” to have Romney run for a second term. McConnell says he’s willing to support Romney with money from his political action committee. The head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee is also willing to put money behind a Romney re-election bid. Romney says he’s unlikely to make a quick decision about a second term, though he is confident he will win if he does run again.
