Vivint Smart Home To Be Bought By NRG Energy For $5.2B

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A Utah-based company known for its home security systems is being bought for more than five-billion dollars. Houston-based NRG Energy announced its plan to buy Vivint Smart Home yesterday. NRG would pay about two-point-eight-billion in cash for the company and would take on Vivint’s two-point-four-billion in debt. Vivint employs about 11-thousand people in the United States and Canada. The energy company says it plans to maintain a significant presence in Utah once the deal closes.
